Gayle K. James, DDS

Dr. James is a 1984 Honors Graduate of the University of Washington, School of Dentistry.  Prior to attending dental school, she was a practicing dental hygienist for 5 years.  She is passionate about the care and welfare of her patients and strives to provide a safe and comfortable environment in her practice.  Dr. James has dedicated many hours to continuing education and study clubs to ensure that our patients are treated with the newest technology and the highest standard of care.   If you are looking for a gentle and compassionate dentist, this would be the office for you.  She was recently voted by her peers as one of the top dentists in Seattle and listed in the Seattle Metropolitan magazine.  She also was named one of the top 100 dentists in consumers Checkbook (a nonprofit consumer information and service resource).  Dr. James loves to golf and is an audiophile with an incredible collection of oldies, many of which you will hear in our office.

Myung Fix, Office Manager

Myung joined our practice over 3 years ago and has been a fabulous addition.  She brings 20 plus years of administrative experience, most of them in the banking industry.  If you need to discuss billings, finances, dental insurance, claims or general office procedure or policies, give her a call, she will make sure you get the assistance you need.  Myung and her husband own a small business, a surety bond agency, which they started in 1980.  In her off time, she enjoys volunteering for her son’s school, dancing, spending time with her family and friends and watching her son play baseball.

Janet Milam, Patient Care Coordinator

When you visit Dr. James, Janet will be the first to greet you with a smile.  You may have already talked with her before coming as she always gives you a courtesy call a couple of days before your appointment.  When you need to make an appointment or need to change one, call Janet, she will take care of you.  If Janet wasn’t here making sure our patients were scheduled for their appointments, you might find her on the cover of a fashion magazine.  Janet received her business degree while studing fashion merchandising and she is the best dressed person here.  She also loves to travel, entertain, garden and spend time with her husband and two boys.

In 1983 Katherine graduated from the University of Washington where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene.  Dentistry runs in the family as Katherine’s father and grandfather were both dentists.  She loved visiting her father’s practice and playing with models of teeth and the different waxes.  During her high school years, Katherine spent her summers helping her father at his practice.  It is no wonder that Katherine decided to follow in her father’s and grandfather’s footsteps in choosing the dental field as a career.  Katherine loves to be Mom to her four children and often volunteers her time to their activities.  When she is not tending to her patients or her children, Katherine loves to quilt, cook, bake and read a good book. 

Ashley Hughes, Dental Assistant

Ashley entered the dental field right after high school.  After a short tenure, life took her in a different direction.  Her thoughts were always to return some day and she is happy to be back.  Ashley loves helping others and meeting new people.  She is a great addition to our practice with her gentle patient care, sweet demeaner and soft spoken ways.  Ashley loves to spend time with family, friends and the great outdoors.  You might find her out boating, camping, hiking, and traveling with her fiance and 2 labs. 

Teresa Pelayo, Dental Assistant

Teresa attended Sno-Isle Skill Center while she was attending high school and graduated from there in 1994.  She has been a dental assistant for 16 years and absolutely loves it.  Teresa says the best part of dentistry is the people she meets and gets to know.  Besides providing gentle care to our patients while assisting Dr. James, Teresa enjoys reading, hiking and learning about history. 

Lisa Totten, Dental Assistant

Lisa came to Dr. James 8 years ago as an intern after completing her dental assisting training at the Washington Academy of Dental Assisting.  She became an exceptional assistant and an absolute joy to work with.  Lisa treasures the relationships she has developed with our patients and will continue to fill in as her schedule allows.  She is planning to rejoin us full time as a dental Hygienist after she completes her schooling.  Lisa is a great story teller and keeps us laughing with her stories and antics.  In her spare time Lisa loves to watch movies and practice her flute.
